Welcome to my website!

I’m Jooyoung Jeon, a doctoral candidate in Science Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and an adjunct lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I teach courses on the origins of the universe and sustainability, helping students connect science to real-world issues like environmental science, justice, and climate change. My goal is to make science engaging, accessible, and empowering for learners from all backgrounds.
My research focuses on Earth Science, STEM and climate science education, particularly how educational experiences shape students’ understanding and sensemaking of complex and interdisciplinary topics like climate change and climate science. I’m passionate about creating inclusive learning environments that integrate cultural perspectives, promote interdisciplinary thinking, and explore the role of emerging technologies like AI in education.
Outside of academia, I’m a gamer 🎮 and bird enthusiast 🐦. Video games spark my creativity and problem-solving skills, while birdwatching deepens my appreciation for the natural world. I’m also a fountain pen enthusiast ✒️—ask me about my favorite pens and inks!
